Arnold, Jane
Archivist, Cape Breton University. Jane recently graduated with an MLIS from Dalhousie University and is the Archivist at the Beaton Institute. Jane has worked as a conservator and curator for a variety of heritage institutions including Fortress of Louisbourg and the Cape Breton Miners’ Museum. Jane lives in Sydney, N.S. with her family.
Atkinson, Douglas
Director, CVS Midwest Tape. Douglas Atkinson has 27 years of experience in business management and 21 years experience in public library audio/visual distribution. He is the co-author (with Fiona Denzey) of two books on video content and the annual PPR Guide (the professional's guide to public performance rights for children's video in Canada). He is also a media writer, reviewer and columnist, a children's television writer, and an expert on the use of emergent technologies in the audiovisual industry. For 13 years, he has served as the Automatic Release Plan manager and selector for some of Canada's largest library systems. He’s also a musician, having among other things written and conducted the musical score for the NFB short “The Beach.”
Balcom, Lesley
Associate Director of Libraries (Learning & Research Services), University of New Brunswick, Fredericton. Lesley Balcom has also served as the chair of the University of New Brunswick’s bi-campus library website review project, has been actively involved in UNB’s library instruction program for many years, and is a former head of the Reference Department at UNB’s Harriet Irving Library in Fredericton.

Elle fait partie de conseil d’administration du Festival Frye, un festival littéraire bilingue qui a leiu au mois d’avril à Moncton.
Chantale Bellemare graduated with a Master’s of Library and Information Science from University de Montreal in 1999. She started her career as a research analyst for Bell Canada’s Mergers & Acquisitions group, and in 2002, she became French Services Librarian for the provinces of Prince Edward Island. Chantale has been in her current position as City Librarian at the Moncton Public Library since 2006. She also serves on the board of the Frye Festival, a bilingual literary festival taking place in April in Moncton.
Belvadi, Melissa
Emerging Technologies & Metadata Librarian, University of Prince Edward Island. Melissa is also chair of UPEI’s Library Web Committee. In Canada since 2008, she is originally from the United States, where she worked for 15 years in academic libraries as a reference and systems librarian.
Boivin, Daniel
As Director of OCLC Canada, Daniel oversees the management of the organization as well as sales and marketing of OCLC products and services in Canada. He started his library career at Laurentian University in Sudbury, ON and he has also worked as a Cataloguer and Librarian at CISTI (Canadian Institute of Scientific and Technological Information). With over 20 years of experience with automation and electronic content management, he has delivered many presentations at CLA and other conferences.
Bourne-Tyson, Donna
University Librarian, Mount St. Vincent University. Donna Bourne-Tyson is currently the University Librarian at Mount Saint Vincent University, on the Library Board for the CNIB, treasurer for the Council of Atlantic University Libraries, and chair of the Dalhousie School of Information Management Associated Alumni. Donna is also the past-president of the Atlantic Provinces Library Association, the Ontario Library and Information Technology Association, and the Nova Scotia Library Association, past chair of the Novanet Board of Directors, and a past director for the Canadian Association of College and University Libraries.

Librarian, Harriet Irving Library, University of New Brunswick. Marc Bragdon is a reference and special projects librarian at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He is a former systems librarian for Nunavut Public Libraries.
Brown, Cheryl
Cheryl Brown, Med RTC, is a Community Literacy Worker in Saint John, New Brunswick. She has worked in literacy for 18 years as a facilitator, trainer, administrator and Reality Therapy Practitioner. Cheryl researches and co-creates programs that provide access to books and literacy support for underserved families and neighbourhoods.
Cameron, Susan
Celtic Collection Librarian, St. Francis Xavier University. Susan is in charge of the Fr. Charles Brewer Celtic Collection at the Angus L. Macdonald Library, and has been with the library in various roles since 1986. She has been interested in Celtic Studies and the Gaelic language and involved in the Gaelic community for a number of years. On her upcoming sabbatical she will actively pursue her interests and have the chance to see An t-Seann Dùthaich (The Old Country).
Campbell, Rita

For the past few years Rita Campbell’s concentration has been on development of the Library’s Digitization Unit. She has coordinated a number of digitization projects at StFX, including Gael Stream/Surth nan Gaidheal, Masters of their Own Destiny: the Coady Story in Canada and Arcoss the World, the digitization of the StFX yearbooks, and the digitization of the University Senate minutes. Most of the digitization projects have involved multiple partners with differing understanding of the realities of digitization, expectations of the results and long term obligations of the projects.

Dewar, Keith
Assistant Dean, International Programs and External Program, University of New Brunswick, Saint John Campus. Keith has taught Tourism, Heritage Management, and Environmental Management in Canada and New Zealand for the past 16 years. Previously, he spent 20 years with the Canadian Park Service establishing a cataloguing system at both Point Pelee and Jasper National Parks. He has a special interest in cross-cultural education.

Wendell Dryden is a Community Literacy Worker in Saint John, New Brunswick. He has worked in Family and Adult literacy for 12 years as a facilitator and trainer. Wendell researches and co-creates programs that provide access to books and literacy support for underserved families and neighbourhoods.

Joëlle Durette attained her Masters of Information Science from the Université de Montréal in 2008. Presently serving as the Children’s Librarian with the Campbellton Centennial Library, (Chaleur Library Region) Joelle has developed and delivered a library program for children ages 24 months and their parents to introduce Sign Language for Babies.
Gerritsen, Tess
Author Tess Gerritsen is best known for her crime and medical thrillers. The Keepsake - the seventh novel in the Rizzoli/Isles series - was published in 2008. The eighth book, Ice Cold, is scheduled for publication in July 2010. Previous novels include nine romantic suspense novels, four other medical thrillers and, in 2007, a stand-alone historical medical thriller. She has received the Nero Award for best mystery (2006) and was nominated for both an Edgar Award and a Macavity Award. Gladwell, Sarah
Sarah Gladwell travaille comme bibliothécaire de référence à Saint John, après avoir commencé sa carrière au bureau provinciale du service de bibliothèques publiques du Nouveau-Brunswick comme bibliothécaire de référence virtuelle et à la bibliothèque centenaire de Dalhousie comme directrice-par-intérim. Elle a une expérience diverse, ayant travaillé au séminaire de St. Peter’s comme aide bibliothécaire pendant ses études, au Holocaust Resource Centre comme bibliothécaire et archiviste, et à la Bibliothèque et archives Canada avec le département de ressources et services multiculturels. Good, Cynthia
Cynthia Good, director of the Creative Book Publishing Program at Humber College, has been in the publishing industry for over twenty-five years. She was appointed the first editorial director of Penguin Books Canada where she was responsible for establishing a publishing program which grew into one of the most successful in Canada. Ms. Good was awarded an Honorary Degree by Mount Allison University in 2006. She is currently on the board of the University of Toronto Alumni Committee and was appointed Trent University Ashley Fellow for the 2007/2008 academic year, where she is now Adjunct Professor. She resides in Toronto, Ontario.

Head, Joann
Joann Head is currently the Deputy Director of the Western Counties Regional Library where she has worked for the past 20 years with a specialty in services to children. She is the past chair of the Hackmatack committee and has also volunteered with Hackmatack since it began. Through the public library, she has supported Hackmatack programs in the schools, and organized her own programs within the library. Joann is also a volunteer with the Read To Me program at the Yarmouth Regional Health Centre and she is an avid quilter.

Lefrançois, Émilie

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the Université de Moncton in Edmundston, and a Master’s degree in Literary Studies at l’Université de Québec in Rimouski, she earned her Master’s of Information Sciences from the University of Montréal. Since 2007 she has worked for the New Brunswick Public Library Service as Director of the Grand-Sault Public Library.

As University Librarian at the UPEI and a strong proponent of open source, Mark is leading a team that is redefining the role of the academic library. His current project is Islandora, which integrates Drupal with Fedora to provide a range of innovative solutions for managing digital assets.
Li, Wen Mei
Research Associate, Faculty of Business, University of New Brunswick Saint John Campus. Wen Mei Li has a degree in civil engineering and a certification in town planning from Tongji University, Shanghai. She worked as a city planner in Zhuhai China before immigrating to New Zealand where she obtained a Master’s degree in Tourism. She is now a research associate and part time lecturer in tourism. Her research interests include cross-cultural perceptions of tourists and tourism planning and development.

Diana was chosen as Canada’s Teacher-Librarian of the Year in 2008 and is a popular speaker and presenter.

Mike Meade has held the position of Manager of Digital Imaging for the University of New Brunswick’s Electronic Text Centre in the Harriet Irving Library since 2002. He is a formally trained photographer who made the leap to digital imaging, and he has been working in that field for the past eight years.

Author. Beth Powning received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, New York, where she majored in Creative Writing. Beth is the author of five books, including Shadow Child, Edge Seasons, and most recently, The Sea Captain's Wife. Her novel, The Hatbox Letters, was both long-listed for the Dublin International IMPAC Literary Award and short-listed for the Atlantic Book Award Bookseller's Choice Prize. Beth lives in an 1870s farmhouse near Sussex, NB with her artist husband, Peter Powning. She is a long-time board member of the Sussex Public Library.

Nathalie is a reference librarian working in the Bibliothèque Champlain of l’Université de Moncton. Her primary responsibilities include RefWorks, information literacy, electronic resources, content development for the library website, collections development, and of course spending quality time with users at the reference desk. Schrader, Alvin M.
Director of Research, University of Alberta Libraries; Professor Emeritus & former Director, School of Library and Information Studies, University of Alberta.
Dr. Schrader‘s research and teaching interests are academic librarianship, inquiry methodology, intellectual freedom and censorship, sexual minority library services, library leadership, and library service measurement. Before taking his PhD at Indiana University, he worked in government and public libraries.
Dr. Schrader has been active in the Canadian library community throughout his career, notably serving as President of the Canadian Library Association of Alberta and of the Library Association of Alberta. He was the first Canadian representative to the Freedom of Access to Information and Freedom of Expression Committee (FAIFE), created in 1998 by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA). He was also a member of the first Core Values Task Force at the invitation of the president of the American Library Association. Most recently, he was chair of the 2008 National Library Summit steering committee, which culminated in a nation-wide gathering in Ottawa in October 2008 of library leaders in all sectors including the educational community.

Denise Somers is the Manager of the Musquodoboit Harbour and the Sheet Harbour Public Libraries, two rural branches of the Halifax Public Libraries. She was worked in Libraries for 18 years and has experience in both Adult and Youth Services.
Teskey, John
President of the Canadian Library Association (2009/10) and Director of Libraries, University of New Brunswick. Along with many other roles and accomplishments, John Teskey has served as president of the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (2006-2007), chair of the Council of Atlantic University Libraries (1992-1993), president of APLA (1997-1998), and on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (2006-2007). In 2005, he contributed a chapter to Last One Turn Off the Lights: Is this the Future of American and Canadian Libraries? (Scarecrow Press). He is the keynote speaker at the APLA 2010 conference.

Par la suite, elle s’est dirigée vers l’Université de Montréal pour entreprendre sa maîtrise en Science de l’information. Elle adore son métier qui lui permet de côtoyer des jeunes tout au long de l’année, la Médiathèque étant une bibliothèque publique-scolaire. Currently, Ken works towards the integration of community-led approaches in branches and public service areas at Halifax Public Libraries.
Willis, Mark
Community Relations Manager, Dayton Metro Library, Dayton, OH, USA.
Mark Willis has held the position of Community Relations Manager for the Dayton (Ohio) Metro Library and the Montgomery County Public Library since 1986. Previously, he was the Executive Director of the Greene County Easter Seal Society and Chief Planner for the Montgomery County Manpower Program. He has a degree in communications from Wright State University. In addition to working at the library, Mark is an active volunteer in the community. His other activities include political campaigning, suicide prevention, literacy, and 1850s baseball.
