Saint John Walking Tour with David Goss

LOCATION: Uptown Saint John

MEETING PLACE: Reading Room of the Saint John Free Public Library in Market Square; no need to pre-register

COST: Free

DESCRIPTION: David Goss is a well known local historian who has been doing his “walks and talks” for 34 years.  Please join David as he discusses “Herstory.” This free “walk and talk” focuses on the movers and shakers of the feminine persuasion: Margaret Baisley, who began the first library; the heroism of Lady La Tour; Mable Peter and the first playground, and her mother, the first woman trained as a teacher in NB; Mabel French, the first female lawyer, refused entry to the bar in NB and so went to Vancouver; the woman who founded the YMCA; the founder of the Girl Guides in Saint John, and so on, right down to former mayor and MP Elsie Wayne. This tour is wheelchair accessible. If the weather is inclement, there will be a sheltered alternative route. (Maximum 30 participants).
